Hunting Lechwe in Zambia

On safari in Zambia oxen had to be used to transfer our trophies (Lechwe) across the lake. With a non existent infra structure the locals still relies on their traditional ways of transportation.

Sharing the ancient traditions and culture of the indigenous people is just part of the excitement awaiting you on safari in Africa with Mabula Pro Safaris.

Black Lechwe (left) compared to Red Lechwe (right)

Lechwe are very handsome animals with their sweeping horns and longish coats. Depending on the regions where they occur they take on different color schemes and horn variations.

These odd looking antelope has their hind quarters set higher than the rest of the body resulting in an awkward motion with their necks outstretched and their heads low to the ground.
